“Squid Hangul” aims to help people learn and use Hangul more easily and quickly, aligning with the principles and goals of the “Hunminjeongeum Haerye.”
The “Haerye,” the only commentary on Hangul, contains the principles behind its creation. However, many Koreans do not learn Hangul according to the founding principles of its creation established by King Sejong. Due to unfortunate historical circumstances, Koreans have learned Hangul in a way that lacks this foundational understanding.
Believing that Hangul should not be spread to people in a way that lacks its founding principles, I was motivated to start ‘Squid Hangul’.
We believe that by following King Sejong’s process of creating Hangul, learners can understand and grasp it more easily and quickly than through existing methods.
As we reflect on King Sejong’s efforts to visualize the sounds of spoken language, we can experience the journey of learning Hangul, which connects the visual form of the characters to their sounds, making it even more engaging and meaningful.
“Squid Hangul” expresses gratitude for King Sejong’s dedication to the relationship between sound and script, acknowledging that it stems from a desire to help people learn more easily and quickly. We hope you will experience the wonder of the creation process through the “Squid Hangul” book.
